The Link Between Cardiometabolic Disease and Lifestyle
CREATE (Cardiometabolic Disease Research in Africa parTnErship) is an ambitious and dedicated initiative focused on advancing research, understanding, and solutions for cardiometabolic diseases across the African continent. Cardiometabolic diseases, which include conditions such as heart disease, stroke, hypertension, and diabetes, have become a significant public health challenge in Africa, affecting millions of people each year. We believe that through focused research and collaboration, we can not only gain deeper insights into these diseases but also develop sustainable strategies that lead to improved health outcomes for individuals and communities.
Our area of expertise
Diabetes is a chronic condition where the body either doesn’t produce enough insulin or cannot effectively use the insulin it produces, leading to elevated blood sugar levels. If left unmanaged, diabetes can cause severe complications such as nerve damage, kidney failure, and cardiovascular diseases. Early diagnosis, healthy lifestyle choices, and proper medical care are essential for managing diabetes.
